| Wrong, wrong and wrong. Although the Greek things play into this, they were also alluding to the pagan beleifs of father being matter or illusion and mother being the void. "Lost in a Roman Wilderness of pain" is where the human race is now, "waiting for the summer rain" or dawn the Golden Age(although that has now begun). "The killer awoke before dawn" means the dark halfs of ourselves or our shadows have taken the reigns during this dark night. We have killed, plundered and done all matter of bad things in this dualistic existence of light and dark we find ourselves in. "All the children" or us "are insane" because the universe is built on love and we have created the total opposite along with love. "The blue bus is calling us" is the indigo ray we all aspire to attain. The snake represents the river of life. Ride the river of life and let it flow. The snake is 7 (in indian tradition) chakras long. The West is the Best because it brought Indian tradition and the letting it flow aspect. This is one of the most deeply philosophical GD songs of all time. It rivals Terrapin Station in its all encompassing glance at the matters of existence. "Your rain falls like crazy fingers"-referring to the creator or universal energy"keeping time". "Recall the days that still are to come, some sing blue(indigo ray)(the ascencion of mankind into higher dimensional loving beings understanding the meaning of it all which is that god is love) "Hang your heart on weeping willow, stray down to the water(referring to the river of life, which flows, meaning to let it flow). "Cloud hands reaching from a rainbow tapping at the window, touch your hair So swift and bright strange figures of light float in air." The cloud hands are ascended masters(look up rainbow ascencion. Most ascended figures are seen hovering above a rainbow. Strange figures of light is because they have transformed to their light bodies in the 5th dimension for helping others much like Jesus did. Tapping at your window is the window of your soul, helping guide you and make it thru. Though we may never have achieved the gold ring of perfection in existence the important thing is that we tried now that it is midnight on this carousel ride. The gold ring is perfection in being perfectly imperfect or ourselves. Being yourself is the most important thing you can do while you are here. Find your path, chase your gold ring, and be you. In conclusion, I can't help but think that Robert Hunter was almost given the keys to existence from someone who knew. His words in almost every song but this one more than others, leads me to beleive he was given the most secret information from higher beings or extraterrestrials.
