This song, to me is a prayer. Not to a specific God or to any specific religion, but a cry to hope. He is praying to hope as if hope was a person. People lose hope because they walk away from it(Cause I'm gone). The narrator is acknowledges that the world needs hope, and that it is this hope that keeps the world in motion. Hoping for a new day and a better future. |

Aside from Captain Sullenberger III, I think that this song is about the emotional and 'human' investment it takes to be a hero. You must be willing to look beyond peoples faults and misgivings in order to summon the will to save them.

There's a girl that I used to date. She lives right by my town's community park. Whenever I'm there I either pass by her house, hoping to catch a glimpse of her, or I actually do see her. It's nice cause I get to see that she's doing good, but makes me sad, because I get really nostalgic and lonely. Anyways, I really connect with this song,the line: "oh it's clear just look out a window" reminds me of when that girl and I first split, I would sit on a park bench near her house, hoping that she'd somehow see me, and think of me. I'm really strange, and a hopeless romantic, maybe that is why I love Coconut Records so much! |
