Wilco – How To Fight Loneliness Lyrics 13 years ago
Spot on in my opinion. Agree with everything, especially with the "And the first thing that you want will be the last thing you ever need" line meaning.

Some people say this song is mostly sarcastic, but I don't think it's actual sarcasm, it's just bitterly stating the obvious, so literally that it can actually fool people.

Radiohead – Let Down Lyrics 13 years ago
I recently had a very strong marijuana trip (if you don't know, weed takes every feeling or thought of yours to the extreme, so you can go from extremely rational to uncontrollably anxious and depressed in a split second) and this song got a whole different meaning to me. It describes the feeling of people feeling meaningless and recurring to drugs and alcohol to feel good, only to realize it's all a pointless "chemical reaction", "hysterical and useless". And if you, while still under the effect of these drugs, get even more "sentimental" about things, you'll only end up feeling like a mere bug "crushed in the ground". Almost all the lyrics describe feelings and reactions you can get during such a (bad) trip, remaining: "Shell smashed, juices flowing / Wings twitch, legs are going", "You know, you know where you are with / You know where you are with / Floor collapsing / Floating, bouncing back".
