I agree with hollypatonmorris, it also seems to me that this is about a father : I got a pocket full of handshakes --> people shake hands for congratulations ; it is customary to congratulate the parents rather than the ex-boy/girlfriends at a wedding. I'm a bowl of bruised fruit / Inside a chapel of shiny apples --> The bride and the groom start their life together, your daughter getting married is rather at the end on the wedding timeline (getting married, having kids, raising them, having them leave the nest, enjoying the grandkids and growing old). Tear up the photograph! / Cause it's a brand new sky --> Moving on But nowhere is it said that the groom doesn't seem right. I only see the pain of a father "losing" his daughter to another man. |
