it's actually been said that this song is somewhat about, with using references, between patrick carney and dan auerbachs relationship as friends, supporters, and bandmates. carney was going through a divorce at the time and it tested their relationship together and it made them stronger, hence the name "tighten up". |

i think song is genius. it shows how easy people are to breaking commitment for a quick fuck. and not only that, it shows the kind of dude who does these kind of things even though knowing the woman has a significant other, which is him being a dick. it doesn't go much deeper then morality and trust issues, really. |

i agree, dude. i think a lot of people don't understand the blunt lyrics and music style that came out of bands like black flag. plus, this song isn't sexist at all like he was saying. it just happened to be a woman as the example and not a man. people should be smart enough to know that men do it just as much as women. |

this could be about a girl that iggy saw or had met in berlin ("Here in this old saloon, way back in west berlin"). but iggy and bowie traveled to berlin so iggy could get off of heroin and they were going to cut an album while there. and it's also known, especially now, that iggy and bowie had a sexual or romantic relationship, which iggy was known for having relations with men. so, this could be about a night they had or their relationship in berlin, which seemed to of ended when they returned to the states. |
