Seems to me like he really does love this girl, but he doesn't trust her because she has hurt him in the past...maybe she cheated on him. He's digusted with himself because he loves her too much to let her go, but he's lost his pride because he's decided he wants to be with her no matter what. He's sleeping with his back to hers because he's guarding himself from her until he can trust her again. He says "don't walk away" because he wants to work things out with her and doesn't want to lose her. |

I don't think this is the case. I think he is repeating the same line, but when a lyric is repeated, it's usually because the line requires emphasis (kind of like saying, "no, I don't think you understand how important this is to me, so I'm going to say this again). I think repeating "and pray to God he hears you" is just emphasizing how dire the consequences are if this intervention doesn't work and his friend doesn't listen to him. But that's just my opinion... |
