The first verse hes singing are about the first girl, and also you'll notice at this point, he is not painted yet. The pain of the 1st chorus is about this first girl. During the bridge after the 1st chorus before Kimbra's ( the second girl ) verse, this is the point hes being painted, symbolizing hes entering into another complex relationship, represented by the complex pattern of the artwork that he and Kimbra are apart of as one. She starts to sing about the struggles shes dealing with in the relationship in the first two lines of her verse, at this point, youll notice the movement of her shoulders symbolizing her breaking from the complexity and confronting him about her pain. He then breaks into his second chorus, singing about his pain of this new relationship, kimbra next to him pleading to him, hes not listening, she gives him that "Look", walks away, and literally takes herself out of the "Picture" |
