| Scars On Broadway – Babylon Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Babylon is the former name of Baghdad Iraq, where Darons family had immigrated to after the Armenian genocide of 1914. This has nothing to do with hell, it has to do with his family. He wrote this song for them. He went to Iraq for the first time when he was 14 (I think, a young teen anyway) and the summers are so hot there, he slept on the rooftop of his cousins home at night. He loved the people of Baghdad...and mentioned in an interview that people who are suppressed under a dictator like Saddam are very polite people because they live in a lot of fear. when he returned home to the States, for the first time he was able to see our governments war propaganda against the Iraqi people. He said that was the first time he had awakened to what the term "propaganda' actually met. In the 90's the US waged war and bombed the shit out of Baghdad, then of course, we did it again in 2002. Daron mentioned in 2010 that his family was unharmed in the attacks, and they now resided in the LA (probably Glendale) area. | |

I dont think they wrote it together...If Tankian did assist, then his name would of been mentioned under the ttle of the song where the lyrics were printed or at least Serj would of had a thank you in the thank you section where Daron mentioned his family and (ex) girlfriend. This tracked kicked off the album and I personally think that it is a BIG F-YOU to Serj and HIS decision to leave Malakian for a solo career. |
