I like to think that this is about finding a higher power, be it God or some other deity, in the lowest points of your life, whether that be addiction or some other ailment. No matter what you are going through, there is always this presence waiting to carry you through if only you tell it "when you want to go". Maybe it's about hitting rock bottom and finally realizing it's time to give up the charade and find your spirituality. |

At its base, this song is about a friend of AK's who gave him an expensive leather jacket when he was a young junkie. He protested that it was a very expensive item for her to give to him, but she replied that nothing is worth anything unless you "give it away". He remembered this some years later when writing this song. |

Brendan Mullins, an early friend of the Chilis', passed away after suffering a stroke soon after the band hired Josh Klinghoffer as the new guitarist. Soon after, they wrote this song as a tribute to him. He supported them in their early days in L.A. before anyone knew who they were. |
