The Fray – Run For Your Life Lyrics 13 years ago
In all honesty, this song reminds me of The Hunger Games series. Yeah, I said it. If you've never read it, and plan to someday, leave, because I plan to spoil some stuff. Sorry =(

I find this song to be about Katniss and Prim. In particular, the two sisters in Mockingjay. They have survived starvation and oppression together and have always had the other to count on. Prim lives in hand me downs ("broke the same bed/wore the same clothes") from her older sister. When Prim's name is drawn during the reaping, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She is putting Prim's life above her own in the most selfless act a person could commit. Then the lyrics say "both of you fell the same day/you don't know why/but one of you didn't wake up/and you laid your body down on the floor/desperate to hear her footsteps again/but this house is on fire/we need to go" **SPOILER ALERT** This is exactly how Katniss reacts to the death of her sister in the final book. She shuts down. She has no where else to go, nothing to live for. The one person she had been essentially living for is gone. Every where she turns there is the ghost of her sister and there's no escape. The only way she can survive is with Peeta by her side, which is where I find the chorus coming in. He is always there for Katniss and he helps her by planting a bush of primroses by their house. He helps her cope with this devastation. "Run and don't give up" is also one of the stronger messages portrayed throughout the series. Keep going. Stay strong. Fight for your life. Finally, there's the lines, "and i know the hunger inside of you is strong/you can only hold the river back so long" it reminds me of the fire inside Prim. She wanted to become a doctor, was always there with wisdom beyond her years. She had an inner strength to be there for others and a compassion that was basically the death of her. Her final act was helping injured Capitol children on the front lines of the rebellion war. She had a need to help others. A drive that was inspiring.

That's what I hear when I listen to this song. The story of two sisters who lived life through one another, did anything for the other and have to fight against all odds to stay strong without having the other one there with them.
