Wow, I didn't get either of the interpretations above. Here are my thoughts: This song is a total backhanded way of wishing someone you loved well, but reveling in thier downfalls and pain. Feeling good about the when your ex (or whoever) is doing poorly off on their own. "such a pleasant pleasant feeling your hand and knowing you're in pain" AND "certain knowledge you're getting what you deserve makes my heart flutter with the spasm of my nerves" Pleasant feelings knowing you're in pain? Hearts aflutter knowing someone is getting what's coming to them? That's how I'm seeing it, really--with the tone of the song and all. A giant "Good, go fuck yourself" song, I think. Who hasn't felt that way--in a saddistic way almost? |
