This song is so pretty, but it's all about Jesus. I'm an atheist and I just can't listen to the lyrics without thinking how much I disagree with it. |

The message I get from this song is that we have to speak up for progress before death silences us. The dead cannot speak their minds. If we don't express what we have learned and believe to be true than it will die with us. Whether it is taking a beating for civil rights or just disagreeing with something bigoted a friend or family member said, you have to do something to try to change the societal ills the previous generations have left us.
And that's what the song means IMO |
