Hollerado – Good Day At The Races Lyrics 13 years ago
I agree totally. I think its a really good, genuine coming out story.

"And mother cried, father took a long walk
Hasn't let his eyes meet mine he barely talks"
-The same thing happened to me. when I came out, My mom just cried and my dad was solemn, and kind of disconnected himself.

"And I am scared, scared of introductions
Scared of repercussions, and discussions in the dark"
-Introducing yourself as gay post-coming-out is HARD. Its scary because you are always fearing being judged. It takes some time to get used to. Finding a gay in a sea of straight men is hard (Rural Canada... I understand completely) and one can be scared of what's to come.

"Parents wonder why I haven't started dating"
-hmm, I wonder why? :P

"Til you took my hands said "I aint what you're after""
-sometimes, your friends (or in this case, your girlfriend) realizes you're gay before you do, or at least before you come to terms with it.

"Hoping girls ain't got what makes my heart beat faster"
-I think this lyric is wrong, I believe its actually:
"Hoping girls and God would make my heart beat faster"
-It sounds like it, and it would make sense is its the pastor's daughter. I feel his mom could see it coming through, and decided to take him to the "wholesome pastor" to "fix him" or "set him straight" (mind the pun)

Anyways, I love the song, and if it IS actually about coming out, I think its a fantastic portrayal of a realistic situation. Keep listening to Hollerado!
