MGMT – Congratulations Lyrics 13 years ago
Totally agree with the comments saying it's about pop culture/being a musician. Kinda similar to Flash Delirium in that way.

"You look down from your temple
As people endeavor to make it a story."

Love this line! It's about how the media try and take advantage of situations in which celebrities put themselves into, as they "Look down from temples", e.g their high levels of confidence and even ignorance.

Also noticed that the bass in this song is just going down notes, whereas the first song on the album (immediately after this) is only going up. As if an ascension with the drugs and new-found happiness in "It's working" but almost a realisation and comedown in Congratulations with the softer sound. Love it!

Simon and Garfunkel – Bridge Over Troubled Water Lyrics 13 years ago
Love this song, Paul Simon is just perfection! The way I see it, the lyrics are saying how the writer would lay himself down to make his friend happy by using the literal imagery of a bridge. He'll let his friend literally "walk all over" him to make them feel better. The use of the bridge imagery kinda refers to how Paul laying down would help get the troubled friend from one place to another during their hard time (trouble water). Amazing really!

Arcade Fire – The Suburbs (Continued) Lyrics 13 years ago
Yeah, the full album is absolutely genius. The song fades out to represent how our childhood is slowly drifting away the older we get. I also noticed that someone referred to the song as like "a dream" and it matches the first song perfectly. You're dead on with that. The Suburbs song starts with a massive gong, as if trying to wake you up, which I believe is a recurring theme throughout the album. Waking up. Realising your childhood is drifting away and how much everyone wants it back but just can't get it.

This song brought me close to tears, it really is the perfect outro. After hearing The Suburbs album for the first time, I went around the streets on my bike trying to relive my memories a little bit, but much like Half Light says, it just felt so hollow. Like the fun had just been drained.

Best band on earth? I think so.
