First of all, I am an atheist… what I don’t understand why people have to turn everything into a religious battle. I am also a writer and an English major…. I am not showing off that I am educated or that I know more than anyone. I have done explication to poetry and writing. I explicated the entire song. Yes the song does allude to God, Holy Ghost, etc. But the main point of the song is that she had her heart broken and is looking for peace at a church. PLEASE if you have negative comments keep them to yourself. Frankly I don’t give s**t! This is simply my humble option… truth be told only Vanessa Carlton can say since she wrote the song. =) P.S. I only wrote because I hate when people talk bad about Vanessa Carlton Tall Tales For Spring God rest his head Sunday afternoon (alluding to God resting because people are in church), and The wicked in me is surely the wicked in you (reflecting on sinful behavior people in general) We pray to a ghost that we never met (obvious no one has met God… allusion to holy ghost) Time turns for a cure, for the scientists for (people seek answers to life on sciences) Madness, madness of the heart (the weary heart… this represent LOVE) But you knew it, you knew it from the start (trusting on someone that u know will break your heart) And Hawking will tell us no tall tales this spring (hunting/looking for answers to life on tales… this could be biblical) Our minds hold the chaos that stared everything (our doubts are what cases chaos in relationships or faith ) Maybe it's fate, as the sadness takes hold (broken hearted) Sill stars through the window, will ever know this (will she know if he was the one soul mate) Madness, madness of the heart (the weary heart… this represent LOVE) But we knew it, we knew it from the start (trusting on someone that u know will break your heart) Madness, a madness of the heart (the weary heart… this represent LOVE) But you knew it, you knew it from the start (they know relationship is doom to fail but the still take chances) Stare a sleepy smile into a sun beam (ray of hope for love) There's nothing more than a daydream () Colored-stained glass cathedral (alluding to finding peace in church) Confess a past that won't let you go (can’t let go of past relationships) God rest his head Sunday afternoon (alluding to God resting because people are in church) And the wicked in me is surely coming through (in church sees what goes around comes around, she probably broke someone’s heart and the break hers) And I'll pray to a ghost that I've never met (alluding to the holy ghost) Still searching for some way out of this mess (searching for peace for her broken heart in faith) It's the heart (love) It's the heart (love) There's a madness, a madness in the stars (weary about religion if there is a heaven.. why can’t see find peace.
