I heard all of the Avett Brothers' newer stuff (Emotionalism is my favorite album) before I came across this song on one of the live albums, and it's probably the most beautiful thing they've ever written. For such a short song to have both the stanza about the two brothers, and of course the "Always remember..." line, I get chills from this song every time. |

Beautiful analogy by one of the deeper songwriters around there. Comparing a fight in a relationship/marriage to the start of a car race, and then realizing that the person on the other end is the one person who really understands how you work. It's really amazing how Andy continues to mature and evolve as a songwriter from Something Corporate to surviving leukemia, and incorporating new themes from adult life into his songs. |
