Van Morrison – The Way Young Lovers Do Lyrics 13 years ago
People complain about this song for this album, because they see this song as one continuous piece of art. I agree with that. But I like the song.

For me it is simple: in an album that largely focuses on the fleeting nature of love, lovers and even time, this song pinpoints those moments when we first meet someone and we feel we have it all. It is the fifth song on the album. It comes in the middle of Morrison's quest for something more eternal. And for a moment, he finds and thinks he has it. At 3:18 seconds that feeling is fleeting. And by the final song, Slim Slow Slider, the illusion of the feeling of young love has long been shattered.

Some may not feel that it fits in with the album. But, I do. For anybody that has ever experience that that bold new feeling that comes with finding a new lover, especially in our innocent younger days, knows that that feeling is only short lived and fleeting until reality sets in. But just because it can't last, doesn't mean Van shouldn't celebrate it. He does with this song, and he does it well, in my opinion.
