Say hello Remain Close to me No good-bye suicide mystery. (Perhaps I'm reading to much into the singer being Bi-polar but the lyrics spoke to me of his struggles and perhaps thoughts of suicide.) The rat In your brain Turns a wheel Connected to your guts and All your faults are in me And all your faults in me (The rat representing his mental disorder, the disease in his brain which controls the mechanism of our bodies, turns the wheel as he puts.) We're stuck Inside our own machine Apparitions (Our souls being trapped within side our own bodies.) |

I wanted to add something to my interpretation of the song. Particularly this line. "But every song's like gold teeth, Grey Goose, trippin' in the bathroom Blood stains, ball gowns, trashin' the hotel room We don't care, we're driving Cadillacs in our dreams." There was something that was bugging me about this line, Why use Cadillacs If she is against those other symbols of wealth, power, celebrity? Its not the most modest of vehicles. This line seemed hypocritical so I did a little digging and here is what I got. To Dream about Cadillac is to say that you are person driven to succeed which furthers my interpretation of the song. |

OK I will try my best. I think the lyrics are self explanatory. I've never seen a diamond in the flesh I cut my teeth on wedding rings in the movies (To cut your teeth means when you've had your first significant experience). So she's never seen a diamond in real life and her first experience seeing one was on film.) And I'm not proud of my address, in the torn up town No post code envy (She lives in the poor part of town. no one would envy her for living there or she doesn't have any envy for where people live.) But every song's like gold teeth, Grey Goose, trippin' in the bathroom Blood stains, ball gowns, trashin' the hotel room We don't care, we're driving Cadillacs in our dreams But everybody's like Cristal, Maybach, diamonds on your timepiece Jet planes, islands, tigers on a gold leash (She is addressing everywhere you go societies obsessed with celebrity lifestyle and how the mainstream music industry is all about the riches and the bling. Ie. Materialism) We don't care, we aren't caught up in your love affair (Addressing she doesn't care about all the tabloid gossip we see about celebrity relationships) And we'll never be royals It don't run in our blood That kind of lux just ain't for us (Royalty is something you are born into and she/we will never be able to reach that level or wealth or celebrity) We crave a different of buzz (Buzz is slang for interest or attention. She doesn't want that kind of attention. She wants to be known for her music, not for her wealth or what she does, or who she dates. Let me be your ruler, you can call me Queen Bee (Buzzing associated to Bee's or She wants the same success as the Queen Bee/Beyonce) She wants to dominate the music charts. And baby I'll rule (I'll rule I'll rule I'll rule...) Let me live that fantasy (She wants to fulfill her dreams of success in the music industry.) My friends and I we've cracked the code (cracked the code, cracked the code) (I'm not sure what this means) We count our dollars on the train to the party (Counting their money is something frugal people do) And everyone who knows us, knows us kno-kno-kno-know That we're fine with this, with this We didn't come from money, noooo baby (Anyone who knows here knows she comes from a poor background and she accepts this) |

| I think the video and the lyrics is all Stockholm syndrome. The intimate relationship between captive and captor. | |
