Another song contrasting the simple freedom and joy of connecting with nature rather than connecting with pixels and microwaves. Truly lovely. The image of the guy standing in the stream is a beautiful one especially when contrasted with the deserted office and the 'crying sounds' from the desktops 'for all the projects due' We so seldom take the time to wonder if the hours we waste chasing a paycheck might be better spent living. |

It reminds me of the feeling I have when I walk out on a job. You buy into all the corporate bull, or at least give the appearance of so doing, you have a real 'go for it' attitude. Then it just leaves you one day and you walk down the road. The contrast of being free "Like wind blowing through the leaves" and existing in their world of emails and faxes is one I've felt and sure many have. I appreciate there's a metaphorical meaning beneath this too. But this is the immediate interpretation. |

| The weird thing is how utterly content and happy with his lot the robot character seems to be in this. It's a chirpy 'cheerio, see you later can't really be bothered with all the tosh you lot go through' kind of attitude.. | |

Well he certainly sings "Now that the lake's in place Where the dead sea used to be" later on so I think you might well be on to something...but what lake? Why does a lake suggest happier times than a sea? I suppose a lake is smaller less scary more manageable more traditionally associated with all things placid. But then he doesn't sing of a tempestuous scary sea but a dead sea. Can't quite get a handle on this imagery. |
