| This song, in my opinion, is about a guy that you thought you knew. He seemed like a perfect guy and you fell for him but in reality he is a jerk that only cares about himself and has a HUGE temper. He is a hole but you didn't see it till he hurt you ("And down here from the ground I see who you are"). He tells you one thing and then goes and does the opposite...and he has to know what he's doing to you because it's obvious you're hurting. He doesn't care though...I just went through this and came across this song by chance. It has helped me through this soo much. THANK YOU TAYLOR!!!! | |

First Part: You were in a relationship that you always knew deep down that you would break. It's like a kid taht thinks he will never grow up yet knows that he eventually; like it's a lifetime away. Your boyfriend is starting to get away from you and you don't know why. Chorus: He has told you all of his secrets: you figured out who he really was. It's terrible because he is the only on that you want. You care so much for him, that it hurts when you're apart. You can't go back to the old way before you met him when you weren't hurting. Second part: You couldn't do anything to stop him from turning away from everything you two had worked to have. You still love him, though. You have a new boyfriend and he makes the pain numb and helps a little bit but you wish so desperately that it was your now ex-boyfriend. You keep on hoping even though there is nothing that has happened lately that should allow you to hope. Third part: There's no way that you and your ex-boyfriend can be "done" because, in your mind, he's perfect for you... It's like Taylor wrote this song for my situation...what I wrote as my interpretation is what's going on. | |
