It's funny isn't it? I never noticed that this song could be about drug addiction, but now that I have read it back over it's a great song that is written almost as though it is a love affair with drugs, very nice. But when I hear this song it always makes me remember why I broke up with my Ex, and that instead of wasting 10 years of our young lives I just wish I had never known him. In the midst of mourning our dead baby and wondering how to feel like myself again, we drifted apart and no matter how much we tried we were zombies. Katatonia. That was another lifetime ago now, but the song still gives me fire and tears. amazing song, very powerful... |

The dream sequence IS about killing your girlfriend- but in a devoted lover kind of way. "She said don't wanna live no more" (so he imagines he killed her, thereby granting her wishes), and he wants to crawl in the ground and die with her so they can be together. The bit at the end that's not here is "She said she would always wait for me"(In the afterlife?) This is said after he wakes from the dream and realises that she is dead, but they are not together. It's a feeling of remorse and longing. This is AFTER he wakes up and therefore the reality. The song FEELS to me like he is mourning a lover who committed suicide. The dream sequence is his subconscious' imagining if it had gone another way, instead of her taking her own life, driving him insane with the coulda/shoulda's. (Maybe the "I dont mind, no I don't mind" part was him shrugging her off when she told him she didn't want to live... that would fk with your mind for eternity.) |
