He is with a girl who doesn't trust him. He says "what about my ways make you doubt.." She has no faith he is true to her. Even the riffs are aggressive. "What about the night makes you change from sweet to derranged.." they are OK together but then she flips out and accuses him of not being there for her. "Who's been wrong to you?" he's asking her what happened in your past turned you this insecure. "Pains like an addict." ..She is addicted to unhealthy untrusting relationships. "Car kicks up dust.." she leaves him, runs away often, torn by mistrust. He can't handle her manic ways so he is "leaving you" leaving her. Kind of sad. My favorite Keys song, though. |

Not sure if FUN. can top this song ever.. never heard a song quite like this one before. It is about a guy apologizing to an ex girl for causing her trauma in a relationship and telling her that he knows he gave her emotional "scars" but he will be there for her. "Holes in my apologies" means he doesn't quite know how to repair the damage done. "We are young.. we can burn brighter than the sun" is an anthem meaning everything will end up being OK because he has her back and he wants her to have his too, even if they aren't romantic anymore. They are young and it's the time to screw up and maybe even hurt one another.
This song is truly powerful and touching. Shows how complicated relationships with people can be, but it's still all right. :) Not candy coated, just a clearly complicated story of ex lovers and their emotions. Amazing. :) |
