Seems to be about Eyedea like My Keys was. It's no surprise I overslept. (Saying he overslept similar to the phrase "in the blink of an eye." Put my boots on and climbed out my tent I didn't see you Assumed you were sleeping (He assumed that Eyedea was safe) that's when I noticed your footprints (noticed he'd injected) the snow's fresh and those have been put since what you already up making the rounds? (already using) so where you at now? you laid back down you didn't answer so i opened up the flap it's just an empty sleeping bag and your backpack (metaphorically the Eyedea he once new has left during the "night" I'm looking at your tracks and you (Track marks) took a couple laps round the campground and hoofed down the path (using a lot) I figure you'll return no concern (figures he'll be okay and the old him will return) I'ma hold put and try to make this cold wood burn (not taking action) possibly the most revealing of all: I read the trail your feet made (track marks) each step was deliberately placed (abusing on purpose) it looks like you know where it leads (slug can't understand why he's using as he sees no good outcome) but i see nothing but leaf-less, frozen trees. Trying to find service on my cellphone (trying to find professional help or friends help?) I felt aight with my knife on my belt though (thinks he can handle it on his own) I hope the wolf is intimidated by you (hopes eyedea can fight off his addictions) I wondered if you even knew it was behind you (wonders if eyedea knows how bad the problem is) it continues with similar metaphors through every line. I'm not saying this is for sure what its about, but given that the song before is about eyedea and he's referenced multiple times in this album, one can only assume. |

My first impression of this song is that he is referring to loving his life. Maybe they will never get along (him and his life) because there will always be problems they will face and nothing will ever be completely perfect. He never questions that he loves his life, but that if his life was perfect in every way he wouldnt have the need to vent and get out his emotions through his songs. Thats the chorus interpretation. As for the verses, i feel that these are small memories of his life, good times and bad. Incorporating his childhood, parents, lovers friends and just random people he has had the pleasure of meeting throughout his life. I imagine sean looking at himself through a mirror (as said on line 10) and telling himself that he loves himself and loves life no matter what struggles he is going through. As for "make the love, paint the picture, write the song, the player met a virgin made a virgo named him sean" i think this is how he was created. Make the love, (parents making love to have slug) paint the picture (his family introducing him to life and preparing him to be an adult) write the song ( he becomes a successful artist). the player met a virgin (how his parents met) made a virgo (slug was born on sept 7th) name him sean (real name sean daley). |

"are these invisible walls that hold me like this goldfish bowl is the whole sea, see?" could this line be referring to Eyedea's Birth of a Fish? After all they were great friends had many collaborations and later the song My Key would be about Eyedea. |

Yes if im correct this song is a tribute to eyedea. My key - mikey. Ex. "now close your eyes and crack a smile if you know me while i spit into the sky cause i miss the little homie" -Smile by eyedea&abilities. Slug has mentioned mikey in replace of "dad" in some live performances of Yesterday while forming a smile in his cheeks with his fingers as mikey would do. |
