Alannah Myles – Black Velvet Lyrics 13 years ago
Black velvet is def about Elvis. The boy could move, knew how to sing, everything. When Elvis first started playing on the radio, ppl thought that he was a black guy because his voice was so smooth and soulfull. Then he unleashed his dance moves, which at the time were down right vulgar, and the ladies went wild over the whole package. Love me tender, leaves them crying in the isles. One of his biggest hits, ppl were obsessed with him by the time this song was released. Daughters, mothers, grandmothers. No lies. And finally, the use of black velvet wasn't about his hair but instead about seduction and fantasy. Black velvet in that little boy smile, his smile was so innocent and sweet, but it had an edge of desire too it also. Black velvet in that slow southern style, this time talking about his slow sexy southern drawl. Always have you hanging on every word with sex dripping from his voice. A new religion that will bring you to your knees, black velvet if you please. Everyone was in love/lust with his sexiness which inturn left them totally obsessed with the man. In a flash, he was gone, it happened too soon, what could you really do. Elvis died an early death and ppl greived over the lose, but what could they really do? Just go on with their lives and remember him through his music.
