I like that explanation. I like it a lot. Yeah, like Baker said--thanks for the clarification. "If it helps you sleep, blame my deeply disturbed psyche and myriad personal issues on my drug use." People tend to look for simple, easily defined(and easily vilified) causes of any behavior deemed "antisocial". That way there's no need to consider someone might have legitimate reasons for the unwelcome behavior. |

I'm thinkin' you hit this particular nail right smack on the head. I'm also thinking maybe I'm gonna sail. No need for an intervention riss--I'm not thinking of suicide, I'm leaning more toward pulling an O.J. (as in my uncle O.J., not O.J. Simpson--one day in the late 80's, uncle O.J. decided he'd had enough and just dropped off the face of the planet to parts unknown. My father and I have been using the phrase "pulling an O.J." since 1988...long before the guy from The Naked Gun decided to issue a non-negotiable divorce decree to Nicole). To my father and me, "pulling an O.J." just means saying "fuck it!" and going rogue--in other words, my uncle decided that all things being equal, he'd rather SAIL. |

| Pink Floyd – The Trial Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| On top of all that: It's not that hard to actually hear what the judge says, which is "I sentence you to be EXPOSED before your peers". | |
| Pink Floyd – The Trial Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Clearly, obviously and incontrovertibly Pink has been sentenced to be "EXPOSED" before his peers. "Exposed" absolutely DOES make sense. He has built the wall in order to avoid being exposed. The judge points out that Pink has reveled his deepest fear--to be exposed before his peers--and has handed down what he believes to be the absolute worst kind of punishment. They are tearing down his wall, thus EXPOSING him--to his peers and everyone else. |

| Pink Floyd – In the Flesh? Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Am I the only one to notice that these are not the lyrics to: "In the flesh?"? Which are: So ya Thought ya Might like to go to the show. To feel the warm thrill of confusion That space cadet glow. Tell me is something eluding you, sunshine? Is this not what you expected to see? If you wanna find out what's behind these cold eyes You'll just have to claw your way through this disguise. The lyrics provided are from "In the flesh", with no question mark, from side four. Kind of an important detail no? |

Yep. Waters' tribute to his once close and now lost friend. Sad, sad, sad. |

Interesting take on the eighth best selling rock album of all time and what is widely (and correctly in my opinion) considered to be one of, if not THE most intellectually stimulating albums--lyrically speaking--of ALL MOTHEREFFING TIME. Repeat: Quite possibly THE MOST INTELLECTUALLY STIMULATING ALBUM OF ALL...MOTHEREFFING...TIME!!! How does it feel to be the "genius" who coined this shit: "his(Roger Waters')lyrics suck so hard on selfpity and if people stopped confusing complicated music technique with a good song, none'd confuse Pink Floyd shit with art", while everyone else is united in the highest praise for an album in which "Pink Floyd have established a frontier of emotional desecration that is employed in this masterpiece,". That's right dummy--The Wall is a MASTERPIECE. It's one thing to simply not enjoy The Wall. And it's perfectly acceptable to accuse Waters of wallowing in self pity throughout his career in general and The Wall in particular. But it's another thing entirely to discount the absolute lyrical genius on display from song one-side one straight through to song seven-side four. I can't believe anyone could listen to The Wall with an open mind and come away feeling so strongly about the weakness of the lyrics that they would feel the need to post their thoughts on the internet for the world to see. Bravo douchebag...bra-effing-vo. |

It's not at all obvious that our boy Pink is on any drugs when he flips out. Other than that--not a bad interpretation in my opinion. |

| Pink Floyd – Waiting for the Worms Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
At this point, the main character Pink(AKA:Roger Waters)has succeeded in building a metaphorical wall to keep everyone out. The worms represent bad thoughts and bad ideas that keep creeping into his head. He no longer has any outside help keeping the bad thoughts at bay due to his self inflicted isolation behind the wall. The image of the Nazi is just a symbol of the evil thoughts that we all entertain from time to time. Usually we're kept from acting on those thoughts by our own innate sense of right and wrong and, more importantly, by the influence of those we have chosen to let into our world. Pink has no one to act as that good influence because he is alone behind the wall. He's starting to question the wisdom of erecting such an impenetrable barrier in the first place, and he's wondering if it is in fact too late to change his mind. |
