| Skillet – Better Than Drugs Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Better than Drugs. This song hit me pretty hard when I first heard it. I thought the lyrics were pretty funny.. cause you know, you never mention You (being God/Jesus) with Drugs. But I thought about it. It's so true. In this world we go to things like drugs to take away our pain. To Help us deal with our suffering and give us a way out, when it only enslaves us further. This song clearly talks about God's love being more powerful than any High on this earth. I also believe that this song is not only about drugs, but about addictions. things like porn and things we try to allow to give us meaning in this life and make us happy, when in reality they just put us in a bigger hole. Only God's love can fill that hole. And I 100% believe it is. Powerful stuff. Skillet does a Good job at illustrating God's love in different ways, through their more untraditional lyrical adaptions. |

| Skillet – Lucy Lyrics | 14 years ago |

John Cooper of Skillet did a personal video of what the song Lucy was about: Despite it's other possible meanings, it's really about Abortion. It's about a Couple, who are young, and they get pregnant in the storm of things... The couple does not know what to do. They are young, and they feel like this gift of life from God could become a problem for them. So, they decide to have an Abortion. Time goes on. They begin to feel regret and anger at their decision to end the life of the baby. They go to counciling, and decide that they will have a funeral for the unborn baby, and this unborn child, becomes known as "lucy" to the two parents. They have an official funeral (With an empty casket) but do it, so they can find closure and find peace. My Favorite Line: "I'll see you in another life, in heaven, when we never say goodbye" Talks about how that one day the regret will end when the unborn is reunited with his/her parents. Such a sad story, but one that talks of forgiveness and realizing that even though we do things out of fear and selfishness, we can be forgiven and know that God will help us... despite how hard things are. |

| Skillet – Comatose Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Comatose. What a beautiful song. A song that speaks to most people as a time of recovering from waking up from a deep coma. I believe that Skillet did a great job on this one, seeing that it's one of their most popular songs ever released. I believe that it is a song about God, on the personal level, because of what is described. "I don't want to live, I don't want to breath, less I feel you next to me, you take the pain I feel." There could be "alternate" meanings, but God is seen as the one who takes our pain from us, through his son Jesus. He brings those in darkness (like a coma) into the light and those who come to the light of forgiveness and salvation (which Jesus offers through his death on the cross) so this song illustrates how powerful coming out of a coma (darkness or hard times) only to see God's love and light, is something truly unfathomable. That is really what the song means to me. He is always with me, and in all honesty, I agree with the lyrics "I don't want to live, and I don't want to breathe unless I feel God next to me." I have been forgiven of sins past present and future, and now I can live in the light and no longer expierience the Comatose I once lived in. SUCH a POWERFUL SONG. | |
