Kelly Clarkson – Because of You Lyrics 12 years ago
Could also be about an affair between a young girl and an older man.

He was a coward running away from his marriage ("You never thought of anyone else/you just saw your pain"); she was young and naive; he drew her in ("I was so young/you should have known better than to lean on me"); she fell in love with him, but he was unwilling to leave his wife, so she was left hanging and has become cynical about love ("Because of you, I don't know how to let anyone else in"/"Because of you, I'm ashamed of my life because it's empty").

Pet Shop Boys – Rent Lyrics 13 years ago
There are a few lines that point to a sexual relationship, but I always thought that the song could be about any relationship where you're sheltered and coddled, like a parent/child one.

Your mother or father spoils you to the point where you don't have to worry about yourself. They feel that that's how to be a good parent. They know they can't be around forever, so they give all that they can while they still can, to prove that they love you, so that nobody, including you and themselves, can turn around and accuse them of not loving or taking care of you. And as their child, you get everything you want and need (ie, they pay your rent and buy you everything in the world) - except the freedom and ability to learn how to take care of yourself and others. It's something you inevitably realize as you grow up and watch your parents grow older and frailer. The worst part is that you have no clue how to take care of them, since you never even had to learn to take care of yourself, much less your parents.

Robyn – Call Your Girlfriend Lyrics 14 years ago
I've got a different spin on the song - I personally like thinking of the singer as a guy (because it's more applicable to my own experience) talking to the supposedly straight and taken man he's been secretly seeing. Obviously it takes a different spin if the boyfriend is leaving his girlfriend for another man instead of a woman:

Call your girlfriend, it's time you had the talk [He's been putting it off again and again, partly because he doesn't want to break up what he already has and partly because he can't fully admit that he fell for another man - or that he's attracted to men in general.]

Give your reasons, say it's not her fault
But you just met somebody new [It's not her fault that he's fallen for a man.]

Tell her not to get upset, second-guessing everything you said and done [By now, she must be devastated, she thinks he is gay and didn't really like her; but he really did like her, his affection was real. Also touches on bisexuality and how people sometimes pin "gay" or "straight" on others without recognizing a middle ground.]

And then when she gets upset tell her how you never meant to hurt no one [He did love her, but he just happened to fall for some other guy.]

Don't you tell her how I give you something that you never even knew you missed
Don't you even try and explain how it's so different when we kiss [Referring to the guy's different experiences with men and women; neither is better than the other, just different, and now he's finding something new and exciting with the new guy.]

Just my personal interpretation. I'm obviously not claiming this is what the songwriters meant, but I like this different spin on it.
