The song is about unbirthing and vorephelia, two rather uncommon but related sexual fetishes. The former involves being unborn into a woman's womb, while the latter involves being consumed for nourishment. It should be noted that the second verse should be "Open your lips" not "Open your legs". The speaker is being asking to be unborn in the first verse, and asking to be eaten in the second. If you think this explanation is incredulous, first consider how many other songs Fat Mike has authored about sexual fetishes. They named an album "S&M Airlines", after all. |

This song is about someone with alcoholism and end-stage liver disease. In the first verse, the speaker is chain-smoking cigarettes because he's just vomited blood in the bathroom. The speaker notes how everyone in his life hates him because of his behavior when he's drunk. As an aside, bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract is a common symptom of end-stage liver disease because of blood thinning cause by cirrhosis. The bridge is self-explanatory. The speaker wants someone to stay with him long enough to see the person behind the disease and wants someone to understand his dependency on alcohol. The chorus is also very straightforward. The speaker knows he lacks the strength to get sober even now that his alcoholism is life-threatening. He's fed up with being drunk all the time, but feels powerless to stop it. The second and final verse is a bit more abstract. I believe that the 'memories of how it used to be' refer to when the speaker used to party and enjoy drinking with company, and they have manifested in tar-stained walls from everyone smoking inside his house. The 'cold illusions' in the speaker's veins probably reference the chills that an alcoholic will get from withdrawel. They are 'illusions' because they only exist in his mind and he feels them but doesn't want to drink again to make them stop. When the speaker says he 'washed away his darkest fears' he is quite obviously talking about how he drank alcohol to numb himself of fear and emotion, but he knows they will come back in the moments before his death. |
