Loney, Dear – Summers Lyrics 14 years ago
The singer had reached a point in his life where his friends had all grown up (established careers etc.), and he felt left behind. He dreamed of being where they were ('the other side'), but he felt that he was too old to change his ways. He was fortunate to have found someone who he loved deeply and who he was afraid of losing ('I fell with you and now I never want to walk alone'), but he still feels like he was wasting his life.

The reason I am speaking mainly in the past tense is that he is speaking 'from the other side' (i.e. the afterlife), presumably after killing himself 'with a dagger in hand'. Although he says that he is finally free from sadness ('all that had been haunting me it couldn't reach me here. I didn't feel the pain, I didn't feel at all'), that last line 'I didn't feel at all' acts as a warning to people not to resort to suicide, as it has left him feeling nothing, and he wishes he had 'let it pass'.

It's just my interpretation, though, so I could be wrong! Any thoughts?
