I think i would agree with these interpretations.. your idea of the "Bead weighted chests" is what really convinces me.. I still don't get the paste, but cleaning up a murder is much more appropriate that rape.. fits the song's tone well.. and as you say, only the artists really knows, but it's fun to poke and suggest things :) |

For me the song is about forgiveness and acceptance. Though it doesn't matter that it doesn't fit completely, and I'm possibly way off. I'm sharing this to add to the discussion and hopefully help someone else find their own meaning in the song ~ Someone acted in an irrational and bloodfuelled manner. Gambling someone else's childhood happiness, forcefully taking some of their life's entitlement. Plunder, a mistake and theft. They're guilty for what they've done. Hovering in hindsight, regretting what they did and trying to trying to forget. Tripping on each other's sides, being double in meaning - both the act and meeting again in the future, both pretending nothing happened. I reckon the seeping verse is the act of forgiveness. Allowing forgiveness into your life, freeing you of the past's burden and overcoming pride. 'Fractured skull' being that of the tortured victim, and perhaps the perpetrator's too. The song has a ring of someone coming to terms, accepting and dealing with it. Not someone who is angry or ruined, but someone who has accepted and forgiven. Also sounds a smidgen like a prayer, admitting it to God/oneself. |
