| Peggy Lee – Fever Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Okay, everyone else who has commented are idiots. This song isn't about a literal fever. It's about arousal. Fever means a sexual fervor. Basically, it's saying how this man instills within the narrator sexual desire, or in lamen's terms, it's saying how this guy is making the singer horny. Even though John Smith and Pocahontas weren't sexually or even romantically involved and Romeo was in idiotic child going from girl to girl, and Juliet was naive, they're used as examples of sexual arousal between partners. That's it. That is literally the meaning behind the song. It's just about being horny. It has nothing to do with illness or sickness or wars or any other crap everyone else before me has said. It's just about being horny. |

| Ke$ha – Past Lives Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This is an absolutely beautiful song, and the meaning is self-explanatory. It's about the speaker's soul mate who she's met in previous lives from the Crusades to the ancient pyramids in Egypt. She's lost him/her before, but they always meet again in a new life. She can feel their connection and it's the only way she can explain said connection between the two of them. I'm a bit sad that this song doesn't have any comments yet. It's my favorite song on the album if not my favorite song she's ever written. |

| Passion Pit – Take a Walk Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I agree with your interpretation and yeah, apparently Songmeanings' moderators just don't care about accuracy because I've submitted corrections to this song as well as about ten others from various artists, and no matter how many times I send in my corrections, they never change the lyrics. :/ | |
| A Fine Frenzy – Think of You Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Have you not thought that maybe the album is about multiple ex-lovers? | |
| Passion Pit – Sleepyhead Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I don't really know what this song is about, but sometimes I think it's really happy, and other times I think it's really sad. Anytime I'm feeling bad, I listen to it and every time I'm feeling great, I listen to it. It helps me to cheer up and wallow in self-loathing simultaneously. It's versatile and oh God it sounds like I'm describing a jumper so I'll stop now. But seriously, I have no fucking clue what it's about, but it's fucking amazing. | |
| Passion Pit – Carried Away Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I have to say that I agree with you. I don't think it's about a romantic relationship at all--I feel the same exact way about a few of my friends, usually friends of friends or a friend in my group that everyone else loves but I'm only friends with them because if I wasn't, everything would be awkward and it's just better to pretend to be friends even though we don't like one another if you get me. | |
| Lana Del Rey – Without You Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Actually, these are the correct lyrics: Everything I want I have: Money, notoriety and rivieras. I even think I found God In the flash bulbs of the pretty cameras, Pretty cameras, pretty cameras. Am I glamorous? Tell me am I glamorous? Hello? Hello? C-can you hear me? I can be your china doll If you want to see me fall. Boy you're so dope, Your love is deadly. Tell me life is beautiful, They all think I have it all. I've nothing without you. All my dreams and all the lights mean Nothing without you. Summertime is nice and hot, And my life is sweet like vanilla is. Gold and silver line my heart But burned into my brain are these stolen images, Stolen images, baby, stolen images. Can you picture it Babe the life we could've lived? Hello? Hello? C-can you hear me? I can be your china doll If you'd to see me fall. Boy you're so dope, Your love is deadly. Tell me life is beautiful, They all think I have it all. I've nothing without you. All my dreams and all the lights mean Nothing without you. We were two kids, just tryin' to get out, Live on the dark side of the American dream. We would dance all night, play our music loud, When we grew up nothing was what it seemed. Hello? Hello? C-can you hear me? I can be your china doll If you'd to see me fall. Boy you're so dope, Your love is deadly. Tell me life is beautiful, They think that I have it all. I've nothing without you. All my dreams and all the lights mean Nothing without you. Hello? Hello? C-can you hear me? I can be your china doll If you'd like to see me fall. Boy you're so dope, Your love is deadly. Tell me life is beautiful, They think that I have it all. I've nothing without you. All my dreams and all the lights mean Nothing without you. All my dreams and all the lights mean Nothing if I can't have you. |

| One Direction – One Thing Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I sing this song to this song because it's stuck in my fucking head and it's got that one thing, also known as a catchy as fuck hook that won't fucking get out of my fucking head oh my God. | |
| Lana Del Rey – American Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I don't know why this hasn't got any comments yet. It's by far my favorite song on the new EP. I think it's definitely literal--like an American. The person she's singing about is the personification of what an American is, whether the person is, in fact, American or not. This could possibly be about her boyfriend--even though he's from the UK, he could make her feel like she's home, in America, because of the familiar traits he has that many Americans do. Of course, alternatively, this could be her exclamation of her love for LA. That's my two cents, even though everything I've said is most likely wrong. I'd really like to hear other theories or an actual, concrete meaning behind the song, so please speak up, everyone. :) |

| Lana Del Rey – Carmen Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think that this song does have allusions to Nabokov's Lolita, but when I listen to it, I see a woman who is literally a star by day and a prostitute by night. Possibly a woman who is famous and adored, but turns to prostitution at night whether it be for the money or the thrill. Possibly this is what Lizzy's life was like when she was younger--basking in the starlight by being her father's daughter, and selling her body at night to keep up with her lifestyle. | |
| Lana Del Rey – Cola (Pussy) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Ha, no. That lyric is very literal. She really does mean that her vagina tastes like Pepsi Cola. | |
| Lana Del Rey – Cola (Pussy) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think the lyric, "Decorate my neck," could be either jewelry or possibly bruises via snogging/making out, like love bites. Yes, it could be literal, but I also think it could be hickeys or possibly something a bit more severe. This seems to be a common theme in Lana's songs--the feeling of being possessed and how she wants to be possessed, wants to feel like someone's property which is a very submissive way of thinking. | |
| AC/DC – You Shook Me All Night Long Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| How is that gross? I wouldn't care if they were gay, straight, bi, pan, asexual, ect. and neither should you. | |
| Ed Sheeran – The A Team Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
This is obviously about drugs, so no one needs me to go into why. When I heard this song, it completely changed my opinion on addicts. A large portion of my family has had varying degrees of addiction--most of them would be considered being in the class A team, specifically my great-aunts and my grandparents. My initial opinion on addicts is that they do not deserve sympathy. They did it to themselves and do not deserve anything unless they pull themselves out. Yes, this is a heartless, ignorant view, but I was only seventeen when I heard this song for the first time. I judged addicts too harshly because I was a kid who had been burned by that lifestyle through others. After hearing Ed's words, for some reason, it just cleared my vision. I'm no longer angry that they chose drugs over me. I still want nothing to do with my family, but now I don't hold the same grudge against all addicts. The homeless I give money to on the street are not my grandparents. They are strangers--they didn't abandon me when I needed them most. I have no reason to scorn them. It was just misplaced anger and bad judgement from a child. I don't give them money anymore, but any chance I have to give a meal to someone in need, I do it. Anyway, this song has changed my life and has helped me in so many ways. I am a better person because of it and I am honored that Ed Sheeran decided to grace the world with his insightful words. I truly appreciate it. |

| Green Day – Platypus (I Hate You) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| This is basically the song of my teenage years. I dedicate to pretty much my entire extended family and half the assholes I went to school with. | |
| Green Day – Redundant Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Although I guess since you could be both plural or singular, it gives your point validation. I do quite like your interpretation, to be honest. It's more plausible than the whole failing relationship thing, and it's definitely more interesting. | |
| Green Day – Redundant Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| This entire interpretation is inaccurate because you's is not the plural as you and it is not used so in this song. It is a contraction of you and is, so the grammatically correct way of saying the lyric would be, "I love you is not enough." Therefore, your point is invalid. Sorry. | |
| Green Day – Nice Guys Finish Last Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| This is the most accurate thing in the comments section. | |
| Lana Del Rey – Diet Mountain Dew Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Even though this was written in a joking manner, I love how accurate it was to the song's meaning, haha. | |
| The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I have to say that even if this isn't the actual meaning to this song, I don't care because this is what makes the most sense to me. It's so simple and raw and incredible. | |
| Emilie Autumn – I Want My Innocence Back Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I was molested as a child, and every time I hear this song, this is what I think of. I was a child, I trusted family members blindly because, well, they were family, but that proved to be my downfall, and that's what this song is about. The subject in the song was raped as a young girl by someone she trusted--a family member, a teacher?--and he stole her innocence, so she wants it back. Plain and simple. That's what this song is about and there's no way around it. It's dark and twisted and IT'S ABOUT RAPE. RAPE, RAPE, RAPE, and you're an idiot if you think otherwise. You don't have this kind of emotion inside of you unless you were sexually assaulted, molested, raped, whatever as a child especially, but really at any age. But especially as a child, or a virgin. |

| Lana Del Rey – Ride Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I completely agree, and I would just like to say that I fucking love how you said it could be the soundtrack to the lives of James Dean of Jack Kerouac. I love James Dean and On the Road is one of my favorite books in the world. :) | |
| A Fine Frenzy – Last of Days Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| How can anyone think that this song is about Jesus? I mean, seriously, not everything has religious meaning behind it. To think that is to be a fool. | |
| Passion Pit – Sleepyhead Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| The "And everything is going to the beat" part is actually a sped up vocal bit cut from Jack Kerouac reading one of his pieces. So, I think to truly understand this song, you have to read whatever they took this bit from and then listen to this. It may cause the meaning to be more transparent, or it might not even affect the meaning at all, but it's worth a try. | |
| Rilo Kiley – Does He Love You? Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I would agree, but I think the husband got to choose. When the narrator says that he will never leave the friend for her, I think it means that no matter what, the husband will love his wife more than the narrator if that makes sense, which is what is saddest for me. | |
| Lana Del Rey – Carmen Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I totally agree with everything you've stated!! I was worried that no one else would get the reference to Streetcar. I thought maybe I was being weird since that's my favorite line of the play, but yeah. I completely agree!! And I love how she alludes to such great fiction in her songs--I'm re-reading Nabokov right now, actually. :) | |
