My Morning Jacket – Just Because I Do Lyrics 14 years ago
He won't "get rid" of the girl until he's helped her sort out her problems (drink/drugs? - "talking in diguise").
He's sent for help ("writing off a letter"), so she can get better and he can move on.

My Morning Jacket – Lowdown Lyrics 14 years ago
I’m intrigued by the conscious simplicity of these lyrics.

I think the idiolect in it is its real strength — adds to the charm.
“Love dawg” — (she?)
I see ‘her’ as the cheater and antagonist in the narrative — the singer is pleading and reasoning with her to quit playing her games, stop spoiling for a fight, and just dance with him. Her instinct is to be ‘lowdown’; he’s showing her a simpler, more honest and easy-going way of loving.

An alternative reading of the lyrics (which entertains me, even if I find it less likely), is that the “love dawg” is the singer’s love rival. Our singer is telling his rival that he has no wish for a fight even if “love dawg” did cheat with his girl. “Let’s forget it, draw a line under it, and have a dance. We’re all looking for love.”

A sweet and sincere song, given impact by Jim James’ heartfelt delivery.
