check this out... this song is completely about DMT. plain and simple. the whole album wreaks of this theme of DMT and starting a new culture. if you don't know about DMT, I've done extensive research and so i'll try and help you along. It may sound crazy but I encourage you to do your own research. torrent search terrance mckenna, i'm sure matt has. there's also other references in other albums. just for example, in "Hypochondriac Song" and "Hyper Song" (same song different chord progression and tempo) he says "Who's back from the dead." The title of the book "Dmt: The Spirit Molecule" should let you know where he got that line... anyway, lets get to the song... "when these pillars get pulled down" matt is speaking of when our society crashes. which is obviously soon. "it will be you who wears the crown" he's going to use the lessons of DMT to start a new civilization. he also talks about this theme in exogenesis part 3. "i owe everything to you" is talking about how he makes his living just doing what this drug tells him and allows him to think and do. "how much pain has cracked your soul" dmt is the room you meet God in. Matt knows God's been watching all along in horror. "how much love will make you whole" is a testament to Matt's will to do the right thing. anything, to make it right. "your my guiding lightning strike" is a direct reference to another song on the album which is completely and wholly also about DMT. its also a reference to the rapidness of it's onset (about 15-25 seconds) and the wisdom in the experience. "i can't find the words to say" Dmt is famous for escaping the explanation of this world's words. Since we don't really go there as a society there's no language for it. this is one of it's famous little quirks that make it so hard to get a mature understanding of it. "they're overdue" is fairly obvious "i've traveled half the world to say" is about matt extensive research into all things considered zany. his love for aliens, and other conspiracies. but obviously "i belong to you" says you are the real one. cant fake DMT. "she attacks me like a leo" often one will have not quite as blissful as an experience as one would hope on dmt. and and these instances it is often reported that they're are gnashing teeth of lions and tigers and.... well you get the picture. it is said to have come from our collective memory of being the hunted most of our human history. a history accessed through DMT. "when my heart is split like rio" so i've personally done DMT and everytime I've done it i've just been torn apart about some conflict in my life and i need some guidance. i just rip it. to me this is what this line means. "i assure my debts are real" is reference to the cracked soul and collective memory. it is also said that during DMT and NDE (near death experiences) there's a heightened sense of morality. surely he refers to this. and finally the fact that he would come so close to saying the name of his own band in a song says a lot. "you are my muuuuuuuu(se) ooooohhhhhhh ohho ohh. right? of course he doesn't actually say it because when your classy that's just a line you don't cross. not so much a deal hear in the states, we like to flaunt our name in songs, but them brits just have a different way. "pour me a drink" matt is telling you to do it. "answer my love" is what you'll find on the otherside... |

ok so here we go... to get what this song is about, you have to think of its context with the song before it. "United States of Eurasia" has the one world order theme of bringing east and west together into one. it ends in lament as you hear jet planes fly overhead. they're bombing you (the listener) and you can even hear the bass rumble get louder and louder (on a good system) as if the bombs are landing in front of you and headed in a path straight for you. the bomb that kills you is the beginning of the song with the bass drum intro. "pure hearts stumble" describes that the people who were responsible for this were born good and had good in them but, for reasons we'll get into later, they were responsible for your (the listeners) death. "my hands crumble" means literally this. "fragile and stripped to the core" describes his fragile body is gone and only his spirit is left "i can't hurt you anymore" explains that the people who bombed us (the listener) probably viewed us as a threat and we can no longer stand up to them. "loved by numbers" explains the motives for these people who are responsible for the bombing, and it's the almighty dollar. probably war profiteering since that would tie into the theme of jets and bombs. "your losing life's wonder" explains that unwavering devoted to the dollar will leave you void of all lifes little wonders. ala stop and smell the roses. "touch like strangers; detached" explains the rift between the two cultures. the culture of us (99%) and the 1%. quite a rift indeed. "i can't hurt you anymore" is the last line of the second stanza which ties into the last line of the first stanza describing physical condition and threat level. "sunshine trapped in our hearts could rise again" explains how this way of living could be changed and the humanity could be seen for what it is. now to all this guiding light business... i personally believe that matt is talking about a specific drug called DMT. It's in every human brain right in the third eye area. matt references it on the first song on the album "Uprising" singing "flick a switch and open your third eye, you'd see that we should never be afraid to die" the dying theme is displayed obviously in this song too. also he says the name of this song and more in "I Belong to You" singing "your my GUIDING LIGHTning strike. both these songs are completely about DMT. |
