August Burns Red – Spirit Breaker Lyrics 10 years ago
To me, this song gives me so much strength and reminds me to hold on and not surrender, even when it feels like everything is falling down around me and my world is crumbling. It's hard to see the light when you're so far down it feels like you can't escape, but this song is a reminder that things always get better.

Hands down, one of my all time favorite ABR songs.

The Dream Academy – Power To Believe Lyrics 11 years ago
Most of it is pretty straightforward. It's about a man who is born in a wealthy/powerful family. He never has to worry about menial or basic things, like food or comfort. Everything is handed to him on a silver plate.

But it sounds like he grows tired of the easy life and becomes curious how the other half lives. He wants to change the world. So he goes out into the world to work with little or no experience. However, he quickly grows tired of hard work and comes crawling back to his father.

There seems to be a lot of references to religion or possibly Christianity ("Seeking guidance from the Holy," "Listened to the word," and "radical revolutionaries" such as Martin Luther King Jr. and others I suppose). However the song does not seem to focus on any kind of spiritual connection; only references. I think it's meant to symbolize man's search for truth and meaning in life.

Impending Doom – Deceiver Lyrics 11 years ago
I think at one point on their Facebook they dedicated this song to Westboro Baptist church, which is just perfect because people who go around condemning and pointing fingers at people instead of helping are not doing Christ's work and are just judging, which is God's job.

August Burns Red – White Washed Lyrics 13 years ago
my favorite album by ABR hands down. this song and the escape artist remind me a lot of my soon-to-be mother-in-law. she's loud and opinionated and always has to be right (picture rosanne barr and that is her, in behavior and appearance). she openly despises me (most likely a control issue, feeling like i'm taking away her only daughter), but she spreads horrible lies about me to everyone we know, and tries to turn everyone against me (our true friends who really know me support us strongly). but the worst part is she calls herself a christian. as a christian myself, i understand that we are all sinful, and i have no right to judge, but to persecute someone unjustly is decidedly unchristian, period.

Angels and Airwaves – Behold A Pale Horse Lyrics 13 years ago
Titus 3:4-8 "But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, *not because of righteous things we had done*, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life."

I find it strage how hard people will run away from the simple solution of just accepting His love and mercy. And there are a lot of people who call themselves Christian yet do not know Christ. They simply believe that there is possibly a god and that by trying to do more good than bad we will go to Heaven.

The Hooters – Graveyard Waltz Lyrics 13 years ago
Took me a long time to come around to this song, but now it's one of my favorite songs of all time. I believe it's about teenagers who decide to have sex before they're really ready, and aren't thinking about the consequences, like STDs or pregnancy. Such a haunting sounding song.

I also find it interesting that in the song it seems like the male is the one who is unsure and the female is the one who seems all for it.

Falling Up – Broken Heart Lyrics 13 years ago
When I first heard this song, I was in my junior year in high school, one of the darkest times of my life. I was really struggling with everything; the only good thing going for me was my grades. Everything I did seemed to hurt myself and others. This song and Spoken's "Promise" helped me prevent a very serious mistake I almost made. I have sworn to never let myself go that far again, but I still need to listen to these songs from time to time to keep me motivated.

Falling Up – Streams Of Woe At Acheron Lyrics 13 years ago
All I can really contribute is that I read on wikipedia that "the green lift" refers to poison being drawn (from the infected children). Their first CD Crashings was straight up Christian and pretty much all of the songs were very obviously about the struggles and trials we face in our faith and our need for Christ. I love all of their music, but each album has gone more and more abstract; I'm not sure what to make of most of it. And Fangs is certainly a huge step away from all of it, into the strange sci-fi fantasies of Jessy Ribordy.

Angels and Airwaves – The Flight of Apollo Lyrics 14 years ago
if you read the album's lyric book it's actually "i've got an ache like a cat thief's got an alarm." a lot of lyrics sites are getting this wrong.
