I can only think of the story of Wuthering Heights when I hear this song.. I think its Healthcliff looking back on his time with Catherine and how they fell apart- I ran away in floods of shame I'll never tell how close I came As I cross the Holland road You went left and I went right As the moon hung proud and white You would of loved it here tonight - Healthcliff ran away and they went their separate ways 'went left and i went right' and then Healthcliff talks of how she would love it here as this is maybe after shes dead.. Spin me round just to pin me down On the cover of this strange bed Spin me round just to pin me dowm -Catherine sort of messes him around at the end before her death and the bed they're in together is strange because its her death bed? Roll out your questions keep them down Let the water lead us home And I was sorry for what I'd done -He's talking about suicide here because as shes dead the water will lead them 'home' You were young I was not old But our story was not told But torn apart by greedy hands -They were both children when they spent their childhood together and they couldnt develop their relationship because Catherine was stolen by that guy.. I cant remember his name 'greedy hands' Then 'Ill be home in a little while' is talking about him killing himself to join her I agree with most of the comments but applying it to this novel was fun :) |

He is obviously comparing himself to kings from the bible 'I used to be a king alone Like Solomon or Rehoboam' and in the story of Solomon and Sheba goes that they both had great wisdom and when they met they fell in love and the whole chapter Song Of Songs is about how much they love each other. But before Sheba came he was alone all his life but God provided him with all he needed 'And everything did oxidate in place' but love wasnt enough for Sheba and Solomon is asking why 'Did you see the light in my heart?' |

I think its about a family who have been through so much. But the 'sister' wants to run away from home to fulfill her dreams and feel alive.. 'If you want to feel alive Then learn to love your ground' but the brother narrating the story is saying that in order to feel better about her life then she should learn to love her home and surroundings. And the family obviously dont want her to leave 'Sister don't let go Sister don't let go of us' |
