"Chicago" is a song by S. Stevens ... he's referring to the song coming on & it bursts into life for her ( not the city) |

Interesting interpretation, but I don't think this is rape ... Perhaps their sex was rough (the hair balled up reference) but some like it that way ya know. I think she's a trainwreck emotionally, that is why she is pushing him away with the love doesn't last comments ... He know they could make it; he's enamored... but she's been abandoned too much in the past to allow herself to admit how she feels... My take on it. |

I hear "I really love you" in the background vocals (as originally posted)... maybe it's a different version. |

I think it's " I sip I sip , I'm stumbling home" instead of I said I said... As if he sips on her wine from the tap in her heart & he is drunk (stumbling home)... |

The lyrics in the album!! Amazing... I think it must be viewed as a whole story with chapters... The Woman who is leaving the husband she once loved ... has fallen for another (her 'teacher' although I think she refers to one teaching her about passion / love / sex, rather than a traditional school teacher) in an affair that hints with little subtlety, of S&M (Violent Games & Leading to Death) ... The child she won't leave behind to be with him (in Dark Star), the hints of perhaps this being her mother's way (seeing her mother letting her hair down through the (bedroom) window and not being allowed in there, perhaps because of her mother's lover, and perhaps that is why she is now putting her child first in her decision not to leave (Form & Dark Star)... and so she is still left behind, always chasing after love and happiness and while having a taste, never able to capture and sustain that bliss (Wandering Star)... Simply Beautiful & Tragic. |

I've read lyrics elsewhere that identify the words as " The LASH flashing Leda of Pier 19' ... all dressed up in garbandine ( described as tweed / dress clothes), Leda being a mythical woman / mother of Zeus' children(who yes, presented to Zeus as a swan) ... My take on this is that he is a young man working in this water side town who is young (tow headed teen) who is looking for more innocent love(fingers to get in between / hold hands). He meets an older woman (mother / lash flashing / finely dressed)... Is he beaten up for his 'affair' or love for her, or does he mean broken hearted? Either way, he would bear it all to have this experience (to fill his cup). (Thanks Tiny ! Seeing your note!) |
