He is stuck in a town surrounded by the same people, people who wake up every morning, live their life with optimism without realizing they are not actually going anywhere, because they are stuck in their own narrow minds. To fill the void they don’t really realize they have, they don’t cry-moan but they â€�cryâ€�-express this gutt feeling filling up their glasses. Not necessarily being drunks, just hanging out trying to pretend everything is cool and normal, while that one person understood the emptiness of everything and just wants to hide away, without thinking of a future that won’t bring anything better. he Is maybe following his dreams, but he is not going anywhere, is not being successful and he realizes with some tough irony that the best thing he wished for himself is what its killing him and making him run in circles like the other souls of this mad world. He is saying that children can’t wait to feel good, becoming adults, but year after year they are still waiting for that day (Happy birthday, happy birthday I think means years passing by) And this is all because when we are little people tell you what to do, you have to behave, sit up and listen. In school he was probably already an outsider and because he didn’t fit in the scheme he was nervous and the teacher wouldn’t pay any attention on him.
