Justice – On 'n' On Lyrics 12 years ago
In my opinion it's about the story/myth/whatever of genesis and Adam & Eve, while adding an along-side tale of the devils lust for, or possible seduction of Eve. The tale seems to wind it's way through time to a later day where his resurrection or progeny (or possibly eve herself?) will finally return.
Here is my interpretation:

>Before daybreak there were none
>And as it broke there was one
>From moon to sun it goes on 'n' on

the creation of the world

>The winter battle was won
>The summer children were born
>And so the story goes on 'n' on

the creation of adam & eve/man & woman.

>Come on woman with your life beats
>Those we buried with the house keys
>Smoke and feather where the fields are green
>From here to eternity

This is agreeably somewhat hard to find direct meaning, but if I go with the genesis motif;
"woman with your life beats" could be a mother, more specifically the life-beats could be a menstrual cycle.
"Those we buried with the house keys" this is the hardest line for me and I think others to translate as it's very vague, but if I continue with the first line, "those" would refer to the "life beats" and "buried with the house keys" I would say he has either created a lineage through eve or possibly his own resurrection through the broader humanity, starting with eve; the house keys referring to home and his ability to return. More generally, it seems to speak of a seed that has been sewn and yet to come to fruition. However the lusty tone for the woman leads me to believe seduction of some sort.
"Smoke and feather where the fields are green" hell vs heaven, devil vs angel, bad vs good, in the land of creation/eden.
"from here to eternity" the deed is done, and the devil is a part of humanity forever, starting from the mother of all mothers.

>Come on woman in your own time
>Far, far, far from the virgin vine
>Rise on out from the dead leaves
>Come back to me

Again, "come on woman in your own time" a plan yet to come to fruition
the next line is also rather vague but insinuates sexuality and leaves a feeling of time.
"rise on out from the dead leaves" I'm sure Justice have their own specific interpretation but i generally take it as a resurrection of either eve or the devils progeny through many generations.

>A vessel in the bloodline,
>The 13th zodiac sign,
>A stitch in time it goes on 'n' on

the first line again portrays to me a feeling of lineage, that being the vessel from which he will return.
the next line is a reference probably to Ophiuchus "the 13th zodiac"; a man fighting a snake, the snake being the form the devil took in genesis.
the last line; more emphasis on time and a long term plan.

>Someday the grapes will be wine,
>And someday you will be mine,
>And so the story goes on 'n' on

more time, more lust, more mulling over a plan that will come to fruition.

>That which was put in the ground,
>Will some day come back around,
>From dust to dust it goes on 'n' on

Perhaps by now you're noticing the motif as well.

This was just my humble interpretation of the song, granting that the lyrics seem (sound) pretty accurate.
