Passion Pit – Seaweed Song Lyrics 14 years ago
I agree. with Farrhago.

Imagine a situation where you really care about somebody and you 2 are really close.
The two of you are separated somehow (let's say you move and you plan to go back eventually)
You guys never actually dated, but you have strong feelings for her, as she is really important to you.
You always expect to come back to what you left but things dont really happen this way.
Its difficult to preserve relationships from afar.
Generally in life, there are numerous bad influences on people, more or less.
And you don't want these things to influence her too strongly and change her from the person you feel so strongly for.
You know everything's going to change, because thats what things do, but you want her to stay the same.
Hence the drowning at the end.
For time to leave her uniqueness untouched. But that doesn't happen.
Time, and the many hardships of life scrape away,
eroding her personality almost completely reshaping her into a different person.
You feel like it's your fault since you left her.
When you return, she's not the person you remember.
Things are somewhat different and it tears you up inside.
Hence the drowning at the end.

Ha, Idk if it'll make sense to a lot of people but It definitely applies here and in other situations.
