| Coldplay – O Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| I find the title of the song interesting. "O" could be read as Zero (left with nothing) or it could represent a circle - completeness or "coming full circle". | |

It might not be so grim. One of the running threads in Owl City songs is "being underwater" - think of Explorers, Swimming in Miami, Umbrella Beach... and this song is followed on the album by The Airway, another 'water' song, which directly references scuba diving. "Retreating from life" is another running theme, though it seems to be a retreat into fantasy - needing time out from the 'real world' of dealing with people. Which is not to say that there aren't darker undertones in some of his songs, but I don't think this is definitely one of them. |

| Owl City – Shooting Star Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| One of my favourites from The Midsummer Station, though it is unfortunately similar to Katy Perry's "Firework". I'd like to think it's purely a case of both songs aiming for the same feeling - that music-formed image of bursting upwards into brilliant light. Shooting Star certainly feels like an Owl City song. | |

I interpret it as a song about finding faith, and God is "the ocean". There's a Salvation Army song, "O Boundless Salvation", that uses a lot of the same imagery. http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/b/o/boundles.htm |

I think it's just about daily life being monotonous. Feeling lost in the repetitiveness of it. There's perhaps a brighter note to this story if you look for it - in "Let Your Love Be Strong" (the closing song for this album): As the dead moon rises And the freeways sigh Let the trains watch over the tides and the mist Spinning circles in our skies tonight I think that ties back into this song. Consider it a 'sequel' to the same character's story - but it's a much more positive outlook. |

| Coldplay – Charlie Brown Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I interpret the end of the first verse as "...took what they offered me: to set me free" - they are offering freedom itself. | |
| Owl City – Plant Life Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I love that it's in waltz time! Gives quite a different feel to the music. Anyway I think the singer-character is a ghost (though perhaps he hasn't realised), as well as as the ghost-girl he's falling in love with. Other than that, it's not particularly deep, just surreal. The chorus doesn't really fit lyrically with the rest of the song (since it doesn't seem to tie in with the haunted house theme), but it's probably my favourite part of it. |

| Owl City – Alligator Sky Lyrics | 14 years ago |

The lyrics above are from the rap version, strangely. I assume it's been accidentally "corrected" at some point after the other comments were posted. Perhaps the difference needs to be mentioned in the title so it doesn't get confused again. NON-RAP VERSION LYRICS: Where was I when the rockets came to life, And carried you away into the alligator sky? Even though I'll never know what's up ahead I'm never letting go I'm never letting go Remember to breathe, 'cause it'll take your breath away When the engines cough, and you blast off Ignite the night with a firecracker flash Remember to live 'cause you're gonna be thrilled to death When the stars collide and your eyes grow wide Take it in with your breath against the glass Remember to dream 'cause it's gonna be a starry night Over every town, as you look down So harmonise with the singing satellites And remember to scream 'cause you're gonna be lost for words When the sparks erupt and they light you up Dip your toes in the galaxy 'cause it's yours to explore tonight Where was I when the rockets came to life, And carried you away into the alligator sky? Even though I'll never know what's up ahead I'm never letting go I'm never letting go Rollercoaster through the atmosphere I'm drowning in this starry serenade When ecstasy becomes cavalier My imagination's taking me away Reverie whisper in my ear I'm scared to death that I'll never be afraid Rollercoaster through the atmosphere My imagination's taking me away Let's hear it for the Universe Where it never hurts diving in head-first Take a taste of the melting Milky Way And remember to laugh 'cause you're living in a crazy world Where you'll never guess what can happen next Give the outer limits my regards as you float to fly away Where was I when the rockets came to life, And carried you away into the alligator sky? Even though I'll never know what's up ahead I'm never letting go I'm never letting go Where was I when the rockets came to life, And carried you away into the alligator sky? Even though I'll never know what's up ahead I'm never letting go I'm never letting go Never letting go, never letting go... In the alligator sky... |

| Evermore – Hey Boys and Girls (Truth of the World Pt. 2) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This is such a clever choice to be played on the radio. What's the first thing you hear when the song plays? "We're interrupting transmission." Truth Of The World has taken over your radio station and is now sending its brainwashing message directly. | |

It's worth watching the video clip for this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hN3Xwy8q9uU&feature=relmfu (officially posted by the band) As well as adding a bit more to the story, it's nice to be able to listen to the song without the "Truth of the World" broadcast at the end. |
