| I think in this version of the song dave talks about taking things for granted.. a fish coming out of the sea, a monkey out of it's tree, a man wants to live without breathing. Everyone has to look for that something extra to make them stand out and we end up taking the simple stuff for granted.. It also could be related to the struggles that the band went through when they stopped production for the Lillywhite Sessions. The changes to the song could have been Dave's way of saying he felt like a fish out of water or a man not breathing. | |
