i dont know whether im looking into the lyrics too much...but gerard is know for his metaphors and what not XD i think the story is about religion, its someone who is being forced to be in a religion they dont want too or necesarily agree with by their parents, i think he's getting beaten up for being this religion. i think the funeral is a metaphor for it killing him...like its inevitable :) i've also changed a few lyrics accordingly, but ive highlighted them with a * on either side :P Now come one come all to this tragic affair - the tragic affair being the metaphorical funeral Wipe off that makeup, *what sin* is despair - i've changed 'whats in' to 'what sin', because it sounds like it and it makes more sense to what i think the song is about :) it's saying that the black (metaphorical) funeral make up is sinning as you can probably guess XD So throw on the black dress, mix in with the lot - the black DRESS being his mother, wearing all the funeral stuff You might wake up and notice you're someone you're not - as in he doesnt think he's part of the religion, it's not him If you look in the mirror and don't like what you see You can find out firsthand what it's like to be me - he doesnt want to be part of the religion So gather 'round piggies and kiss this goodbye - 'piggies' as in children, gather round as in gather round the casket at the funeral I'd encourage your smiles *and* expect you won't cry - he expects they wont cry at the funeral, not only because it's a sin in certain religions to mourn a loved one, but also because they dont care whats happening to him (getting beaten up) they want him to stay the same religion Another contusion, my funeral jag - if you dont know 'contusion' means bruise, so he keeps getting bruises from being b eaten up...i'm not sure but i thought a 'jag' was like a 'party jag' where its kind of a party trick...so a funeral jag would be like his funeral trick...whats important about it Here's my resignation, I'll serve it in drag - 'drag' as many have said, i think means hospital gown, so like dying is inevitable, because he's getting beaten up so much You've got front row seats to the penitence ball When I grow up I want to be nothing at all! - penitence means like 'remourse for your past conduct' so like repenting for what you've sinned basically. so you can gather what a 'penitence ball' is XD i think he's talking to his mother, she has front row seats to his repenting. im not sure if the whole 'i want to be nothing at all' is about wanting being a sin...or because he's not going to live to grow up (Save me!) Get me the hell out of here (Save me!) Too young to die and my dear (You can't!) If you can hear me just walk away and (Take me!) - i think rather than reading it all in a line...all the things in brackets are read together...so it reads 'save me, save me, you cant, take me' so he's saying to his mother please save him (let him stop being in that religion) that she's taking him (his life). and all the other stuff is kinda obvious XD anyways thats just the impression i got :) sorry its sooo long :L |

Kay, now this may be confusing so im going to call them person 1 and person 2 XD I think this song is about person 1's friend - person 2 - killed someone and then framed person 1 for it...and now person 1 is in jail for it; it also shows part in the courtroom as well. Well you can hide a lot about yourself But honey, what are you gonna do? - Person 2 is trying to hide from the truth that they really killed the person, but it's a huge secret to hide. And you can sleep in a coffin But the past ain't through with you - 'Sleep in a coffin' as in person 2 is pretending to be dead (not in the literal sense, just hang low...if that makes sense :L), but no matter what they do, the past keeps coming to get them. Cuz we are all a bunch of liars - In the courtroom, all the people there are liars because they all believe what person 2 is saying about person 1 being the killer. Tell me baby who do you wanna be? - Person 1 is saying that person 2 changed from their friend to their foe so quickly, person 2 is like a whole different person...so person 1 is saying who do you want to be at the moment? And we are all about to sell it Cus its tragic with a capital 'T' Let it be, Let it be, LET IT BE! - it's the saying when you 'buy' something, you believe what someone is telling you. so 'selling' something i think is the person saying it. so all the people in the courtroom are 'selling' the lies that person 2 has told them, because the story that person 2 has told the courtroom is so tragic. Cuz we all wanna party when the funeral ends - metaphor...as in no-one in the courtroom cares about what happens to person 1. And we all get together when we bury our friends - As in all the people in the courtroom are teaming up together to put him behind bars. It's been 8 bitter years since I've been seeing your face And you're walking away And I will die in this place - It has been 8 years since person 1 has seen person 2, because he has been in jail while person 2 is still walking around free. Sometimes you scrape and sink so low, I'm shocked at what you're capable of - Person 1 is shocked about how much person 2 can lie about, and how heartless they can be. Cuz we are all a bunch of animals that never paid attention in school - well school is where you go to learn manners...so they are all animals that never learnt that. So tell me all about your problems I was killing before killing was cool You're so cool, you're so cool, SO COOL - This is person 1 talking to someone in jail, asking them about their problems and they replied with "I was killing before killing was cool", and person 1 is being sarcastic saying they think they're so cool. You'll never take me alive, you'll never take me alive Do what it takes to survive cos I'm still here - Even though person 2 put person 1 in jail wrongfully, person 1 still has their head held high and won't let person 2 get the better of them. It's been 10 fucking years since I've been seeing your face round here And you're walking away and I will drown in the fear - It's been 10 years since person 1 has seen person 2 and he's scared of what their next encounter will hold. This is just what i think the song is about...cause it kinda makes sense...but meh. what do i know XD |

I think this song is about love. I think it's a guy who has fallen in love and the woman is slowly killing him inside... "Gaze into her killing jar I'd sometimes stare for hours. She even poked the holes so I can breathe." This is saying that the girlfriends has a killing jar which is meant to be the place where all her previous boyfriends have gone, where she puts them and slowly strips them of their will to live... and he's currently in there. "She bought the last line. I'm just the worst kind. Of guy to argue. With what you might find." This is saying that he just agrees with whatever she says (she's taking away his spirit) But he's lying about everything he says and she is believing him...he doesn't want to argue... "And for the last night I lie. Could I lie with you?" This is saying that even though she's killing him, he still loves her. "Alright... Give up. Get down. Its just the hardest part of living. She wants. It all to come down this time." This is saying that he has given up trying to not fall in love with her...that love is the hardest part of living...that she is driving him crazy. "It gives the weak flight. It gives the blind sight. Until the cops come." This is saying that love makes people blind and weak, that they can't see what is right in front of their eyes until the cops come. "Pull the plug. But I'd like to learn your name. And holding on. I think this song is about the part of "the patients" life when he was a 'player' and had a string of meaningless relationships, and he fancied one girl, but she hates him because he was addicted to alcohol and drugs. he's trying to change, but it's too tempting and he keeps having drinks. I don't think it is about romeo and juliet specifically, the story of "romeo & juliet" just has some relevance to the story in this song, which i'll explain later. Oh and when he says "so why don't you blow me, a kiss before she goes" i'm pretty sure it just means literally blow him a kiss, not blow him...a kiss. the only reason he pauses is because it goes with the tune to the music, he does it all the way through...:) "Well it rains and it pours when you're out on your own" he's saying he's miserable having a bunch of meaningless relationships - he's lonely. "If I crash on the couch, can I sleep in my clothes" as appose to him sleeping in a bed and having to take off his clothes...for obvious reasons...XD he's saying he's tired of all the one night stands. "Cause I spent the night dancing, I'm drunk I suppose" haha he's saying he's been drinking...obv XD "If it looks like I'm laughing I'm really just asking to leave this alone" he's saying that when his friends or whatever talk to him about his unhealthy habits, he puts on a mask of happiness and laughs, but inside he's suffering but he doesn't want to talk about it. "You're in time for the show" he's saying that the girl he fancies is in time to see the show of him getting drunk. "You're the one that I need, I'm the one that you loath You can watch me corrode like a beast in repose Cause i love all the poison" he's saying that he likes her, but she doesn't like him because he 'loves all the poison' meaning all the drugs and alcohol and it's slowly destroying him. "away with the boys in the band" he's saying he doesn't care what she thinks about him, even though he loves her, or he cant change so just play the music and let him get back to his dancing and alcohol. "I've really been on a bender and it shows" he's saying that he's really taken a bad turn in trying to stop drinking and taking drugs, and it shows in his behavior and he's kind of become an asshole. "So why don't you blow me a kiss before she goes" he's saying that he's still being an ass and he wants one of his one night stands to blow him a kiss to try and make the girl he loves jealous before she leaves the nightclub. "Give me a shot to remember and you can take all the pain away from me" he's saying give he a really strong drink to take away all the pain of not being able to have the girl he loves. "one kiss and i will surrender" he's saying if he has one drink, he'll give up trying to stop and 'surrender' to the temptations. "the sharpest lives are deadliest to lead" sharpest meaning strongest meaning drinks. he's saying that people who drink alot lead the deadliest lives. "a light to burn all the empires so bright the sun is ashamed to rise and be" he's saying that he wants a drink so amazing it outshines the sun and 'burns all the empires'. he's also saying that the sun is ashamed to take away the night and stop the partying. "in love with all of these vampires" he's saying that everyone there is vampires, in the sense that they stay up partying all night and sleep all day from hangovers, and he loves all of them. "so you can leave like the sane abandoned me" he's saying that the girl he loves is going to leave, like his sanity, because he's so drunk and drugged that all thoughts of stopping have left him. "There's a place in the dark where the animals go You can take off your skin in the cannibal glow" he's saying that in the back, you can take off your mask and just be yourself. cannibal glow as in people that eat each-other, but in this sense i think that he's talking about everyone kissing touching each-other... "Juliet loves the beat and the lust it commands Drop the dagger and lather the blood on your hands, romeo" well if you know the story of "romeo & juliet" it is basically romeo's fault for juliet's death...he doesnt actually kill her but it is his fault... the patient is telling romeo to put down the knife (as in metaphorically he kills juliet), because juliet is in love with the partying, he's saying that the damage has already been done and romeo doesn't need to kill juliet because she's killing herself (lather the blood on you hands romeo) as in the bloods already there...if that makes sense... this is just the impression i got from the song...it's probably wrong XD |
