Redgum – I Was Only 19 (A Walk in the Light Green) Lyrics 14 years ago
I thought conscripts were taken from 18? I know a few Nashos (National Servicemen) that were 18 when they were called up.

I believe that the hooked in there for hours part is about D Company, 6th Battalion at Long Tan. Means a bit as D Coy 6 Bn was the sponser of my training platoon at Kapooka when I enlisted in the Australian Army and I had the honour of meeting veterans from this battle.

The Fray – You Found Me Lyrics 14 years ago
this song means a lot to me, not just the lyrics, but also the film clip. working as a paramedic, i find so many people that are lost and insecure, injured and need help at their worst moments. To me, it is a reminder that despite our best efforts, some are already marked for their final transition.

I first heard this song when I was diagnosed with depression/general anxiety disorder and not long after I tried to take my own life as a result. This was a few years ago, and this song serves as a reminder that in our darkest moments someone is there for you. For me, it was on overdose of propranolol (a drug that drops your blood pressure and in overdose can cause a cardiac arrest), and in that moment I asked God for a sign why I should keep living. My son woke up crying at this point, calling for his dad. I knew then what my purpose was, to keep pushing through it and do the best that I can, if not for myself but my children. I am now in a much happier place, comfortable with the actions that I chose and the result. If I needed a sign, it certainly came that night. I pushed forward, overcame my illness and now help others.
