This song is about being depressed and not being to know why. It's a great song because it holds all the implications of being depressed; not having anyone to understand, especially one's self. But sometimes you have to tell someone it'll be fine just for the sake of being nice but knowing deep inside that you're going to have to leave, mentally or physically. The guitars, bass, and drums are suppose(I believe) to convey that obvious subjective perception of being in a social place while feeling like this(depressed). It's a beautiful song because it's so true. It makes me happy that The Strokes can convey this feeling so accurately. |
