I think it's kind of a song that juxtaposes American life and love. "We're half awake" could be interpreted as trying to find meaning in life but knowing that you are just like everyone else, hypnotized by the media in our "fake empire". As far as love, you're going out and doing things like "stay[ing] out super late" but for some reason you only feel half awake, like it's just a dream, and you long for the moment once it's gone, just like a dream. |
