It's about sex. Quickening canoe, thunder circle, fuzz canyon... metaphors for vagina. He even puts it right in there (so to speak) "through curly straws, metaphores and goo." He's being uberobvious, the grossness (as in physical aspect, not gross as disgusting)of the act of sex intertwined with the metaphorical "trip to the moon", ie sex & orgasming.
