We can clearly draw a parallel between the struggles of Amelia Earhart and the feminist movement. The tragic ending of Amelia's final journey solidifies the deeply infused misogamy of the concept of being free. Woman are exempt from this notion, perhaps she stopped for directions (in the ocean?) hence her death. |

I agree. But 'give me a break' can also be interpreted as "leave me alone" which implies that there is someone not letting you fulfill your own personal whims. We cannot be truly happy if we have to bend for the whims of others but we also don't want to be alone. Our own desire to be alone is constantly competing with our desire to do what we want when we want. |

this song is simple: Live life, have fun, indulge yourself in your surroundings, etc. All we can do in our time here on earth is have fun and experience the love of others. Go outside and interact with your neighborhood and community. You can choose to fear bad experiences or chose to embrace all the good experiences. You can either read the newspaper's rape and murder and stay inside or go outside and experience the world, and YOUR OWN NEIGHBORHOOD for all the beauty and wonder that exists within it's boundaries. There are probably amazing restaurants, dance clubs, people, etc within miles of your home that you never knew about because you never looked.
Go outside, put your ego aside, and experience life in your own voodoo city. Fall in love with everything. You never know what could happen; if you worry about the negative you will never experience the positive. |

Although I think that there are places more wonderful than western US this song is quite beautiful in illustrating that we can experience beauty here on earth before we die. Because death is an end so all we can do in life is experience beauty and have fun. And also ensure that others around us, and those that come after us, can also have the opportunity to experience this 'Utopia" or 'Shangri-la' we call earth. |

If you don't believe in an afterlife you can still live a life of love. MDMA and dancing helps but the fact that you don't believe in an afterlife doesn't inherently mean you live an inherently 'evil' lifestyle that hurts others.
Also, the initial bass-line reminds me of Ben E. King's "Stand By Me" which is such a classic sound that will make anyone dance. I've seen toddlers dance to similar bass lines. It's so natural. Dancing to rhythms and having fun is just so innocent and natural to the human spirit. This song feature many elements of 'classic american' dance music which is seen by many christians as inherently sexual and evil but is just plain fun. |
