Anybody heard of Centralia, PA? It's had a coal fire burning underneath for the last 50 years, and has been largely evacuated and demolished. It inspired the movie 'Silent Hill', as well as countless other artistic productions. That's what I make of this song. I'm not saying that it was definitely inspired by the town, but it certainly is appropriate. "He came from a little town called hope And someday maybe, It'll go up in smoke" Centralia was a small town, population went from 2000, to 1000, to 11. |
