Fleetwood Mac – What Makes You Think You're The One Lyrics 1 year ago
It's one of Lindsey's many missives to Stevie Nicks, telling her she lives in the clouds, and that no one can live without consequences.

@[buterfly7:48758] Not surprising, it just may be the best thing they ever did.

Pretty straightforward lyrically, and a bona fide classic. The one Stones song I'd take to a desert island. I love how it slowly builds to that final chorus.

Patti Smith – People Have the Power Lyrics 2 years ago
@[Goldengrove:48665] Agree, it's a bit by-the-numbers. Catchy, but quickly forgettable.

The Rolling Stones – Sparks Will Fly Lyrics 2 years ago
Based on the subtle, poetic lyric "Ooh, I wanna fuck your sweet ass" I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the singer of the song wants to fuck someone's sweet ass. Just a hunch.

Paul McCartney – Spin It On Lyrics 2 years ago
Like many of Macca's songs, it's just a flow of words that means nothing whatsoever

KT Tunstall – I Don't Want You Now Lyrics 3 years ago
I'm just spitballing here, but I get the vaguest inkling that maybe she doesn't want someone anymore, largely through her used of the words "You" "I" "Want" "Don't" and "Now". But who knows, it could mean something completely different...

Tom Petty – I Won't Back Down Lyrics 3 years ago
This song is so oblique and obscure, I can\'t for the life of me figure out what it\'s about. I wish he\'d be a bit more direct and straightforward...

Tom Petty – Zombie Zoo Lyrics 3 years ago
Even though Tom said explicitly what it\'s about, I think it\'s about something else...;)

Tom Petty – Room At The Top Lyrics 3 years ago
@[pinkfloyd4241:40864] You\'re right, I think it\'s one of his 3 masterpieces, along with Wildflowers and IMHO Into the Great Wide Open. I love Echo. It is undoubtedly full of utter despair, but without being a one-dimensional wallow. He masterfully mixes the melancholy with energy and hope making for an organic whole. It\'s a great emotional catharsis but that ultimately makes you feel good. It\'s also totally unique in his catalogue in its ballsy emotionality and its sheer eccentricity. .

"Rebel without a clue", apology for his pro-Confederate song "Rebels" when he had no idea what he was doing.

The Housemartins – Happy Hour Lyrics 4 years ago
It's about conformity and the spiritual void it engenders.

The Beatles – Yer Blues Lyrics 7 years ago
Hmm, yes, now what could this song be about, it's a mystery, LOL. He was unhappy, period.

The Who – Won't Get Fooled Again Lyrics 7 years ago
One of my favourite songs of all time. But its message is flawed. Things do change sometimes and the new boss is not always exactly the same as the old boss.

South Park – Kyle's Mom Is A Bitch Lyrics 8 years ago
Too nuanced and ambiguous, impossible to decipher...

The Moody Blues – Your Wildest Dreams Lyrics 8 years ago
Very effective wistful remembrance of a romance past.

Tom Petty – Cabin Down Below Lyrics 8 years ago
After extensive contemplation and rigorous analysis I've come to the revelatory conclusion that it's about sex.

Styx – Too Much Time On My Hands Lyrics 8 years ago
Lyrics don't make sense. They say "Is it any wonder I'm not a criminal" which is the same as "No wonder I'm not a criminal!" But what they're trying to say is that what with being so idle it's amazing they haven't gotten into trouble, i.e. become a criminal. What would make sense is "It's a wonder I'm not a criminal". But of course that wouldn't scan in the song. Hey, who cares if their lyrics are gibberish, most of their fans can barely read anyway...

Fleetwood Mac – The Ledge Lyrics 8 years ago
Yet another song directed at his former partner, Stevie Nicks, except on this album without the chocolate coating that made the vitriol on Rumours palatable to yuppies. He just lets fly here and it's invigorating. The more I listen to this album the better it gets. Buckingham allows his recriminatory feelings to be expressed in domineering belittlement of her weakness, that she can't walk out and is too weak to ever make it without him.

@[drucilla666:15345] If you watch the actual video, you'll see how off-base you are, it's not about being a child star at all.

@[nuttinbutnate:10059] They ARE trying to be funny, dude, and succeeding by spoofing the lyrics of actual songs like Kiss' "Love Gun".

XTC – Wake Up Lyrics 10 years ago
Very relevant song nowadays. It's not a coincidence zombies are so popular right now in arts and entertainment. Very apt metaphor for the casualties of a bourgeois society, the oblivious unproductive masses.

Simon and Garfunkel – The Dangling Conversation Lyrics 13 years ago
Intellectuals lost in an arch, dispassionate wasteland, rendering themselves emotionally inert.
