Pretty straightforward lyrically, and a bona fide classic. The one Stones song I'd take to a desert island. I love how it slowly builds to that final chorus. |

Based on the subtle, poetic lyric "Ooh, I wanna fuck your sweet ass" I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the singer of the song wants to fuck someone's sweet ass. Just a hunch. |

I'm just spitballing here, but I get the vaguest inkling that maybe she doesn't want someone anymore, largely through her used of the words "You" "I" "Want" "Don't" and "Now". But who knows, it could mean something completely different... |

This song is so oblique and obscure, I can\'t for the life of me figure out what it\'s about. I wish he\'d be a bit more direct and straightforward... |

@[pinkfloyd4241:40864] You\'re right, I think it\'s one of his 3 masterpieces, along with Wildflowers and IMHO Into the Great Wide Open. I love Echo. It is undoubtedly full of utter despair, but without being a one-dimensional wallow. He masterfully mixes the melancholy with energy and hope making for an organic whole. It\'s a great emotional catharsis but that ultimately makes you feel good. It\'s also totally unique in his catalogue in its ballsy emotionality and its sheer eccentricity. . |

One of my favourite songs of all time. But its message is flawed. Things do change sometimes and the new boss is not always exactly the same as the old boss. |

Lyrics don't make sense. They say "Is it any wonder I'm not a criminal" which is the same as "No wonder I'm not a criminal!" But what they're trying to say is that what with being so idle it's amazing they haven't gotten into trouble, i.e. become a criminal. What would make sense is "It's a wonder I'm not a criminal". But of course that wouldn't scan in the song. Hey, who cares if their lyrics are gibberish, most of their fans can barely read anyway... |

Yet another song directed at his former partner, Stevie Nicks, except on this album without the chocolate coating that made the vitriol on Rumours palatable to yuppies. He just lets fly here and it's invigorating. The more I listen to this album the better it gets. Buckingham allows his recriminatory feelings to be expressed in domineering belittlement of her weakness, that she can't walk out and is too weak to ever make it without him. |

@[nuttinbutnate:10059] They ARE trying to be funny, dude, and succeeding by spoofing the lyrics of actual songs like Kiss' "Love Gun". |

Very relevant song nowadays. It's not a coincidence zombies are so popular right now in arts and entertainment. Very apt metaphor for the casualties of a bourgeois society, the oblivious unproductive masses. |
