| The Wallflowers – Heroes (David Bowie cover) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| To 1998 Godzilla movie, perhaps the only connection is that it was launched at the Memorial Day - the 'Heroes' day - I just wonder why in the video clip, The Wallflowers look so apathethic to crazy things happened around them, the crash and booms made both by the creature and the military - they just carry on playing til the end ha ha... | |
| Chris Cornell – You Know My Name Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Do you know my name? I am - The Killer - The Asassin - And that also means your killer instict, I guess... If you take a life do you know what you'll give? (you TAKE LIFE, so you give DEATH to your victim) Odds are, you won't like what it is (yes, we DON'T like it, neither does the Royale Bond after his second kill - "You feel it, don't you?" He shot the man and said, "Yes... considerably") When the storm arrives, would you be seen with me? By the merciless eyes of deceit? (when trouble comes, does your killer instict come out from within you? - sure it will!) I've seen angels fall from blinding heights But you yourself are nothing so divine Just next in line (no one's too innocent to resist it - it's just a normal way isn't it?) Arm yourself because no-one else here will save you The odds will betray you And I will replace you (without others' help, and with threats all around you, you're the the only one who's responsible to save yourself - the killer instinct will take over you, taking whatever it takes to survive) You can't deny the prize it may never fulfill you It longs to kill you Are you willing to die? (you might be glad that it drives you to win, but beware - that same impulse may kill your feelings too) The coldest blood runs through my veins You know my name (That instinct is so pure and cold - you know the name - it's 'the killer' within you) If you come inside things will not be the same When you return to the night And if you think you've won You never saw me change The game that we all been playing (so you may try to disguise it, or you may even try to subdue it... yet you'll NEVER win over it) I've seen diamonds cut through harder men Than you yourself (see, that instinct is so precious, you can even beat bigger enemies with that) But if you must pretend You may meet your end (and even if you deny it, well, you'll die anyway - what for?) chorus Try to hide your hand Forget how to feel Forget how to feel (let's kill - just do it smoothly and stay cool) Life is gone with just a spin of the wheel Spin of the wheel (it's about to kill or being killed, always be quick, always be on guard - it's a roullette of life and death...) chorus |

| Billy Idol – Worlds Forgotten Boy Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I felt the same way with Nephentes - for me this is Billy's best song but yet it's not as popular as "Rebel Yell" or "To Be a Lover", so perhaps it's considered as a 'long forgotten' rock masterpiece? I remember when I first listened to "Worlds Forgotten Boy" as a teenager, a same strong impression has been staying inside my mind until now - that dark gloomy feel and the rebellious, bursting energy of Idol's vocals... those mighty 'n crazy shreds from Stevens... the heavy atmosphere... sound intensity... Indeed we need this Miracle Joy! Looking back to days when we were younger, there were times we boys faced some tough situations, like making big decisions for life. And this song, isn't it one that speaks about it? The lyrics speaks resolution, it says never to Billy to fall, never to regret about the path you took "Oh, no, no shame. All my life, I'll not betray"."I'll shed all my fears, all my life. For ever more, for ever more." The anguish created unstoppable power so that "Sound towers will crumble down"... And yes, "That Rock 'n Roll Boy"... he made it well allright!!! |

| Nightwish – Ever Dream Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Listening to this song, the story of "Little Mermaid" comes to my mind. The music of "Ever Dream" sounds like thunderous ocean waves, very powerful, feverish and desperate at the same time, while the lyrics speak some words expressing longing, burning desire to someone unknown? Could this be about the mermaid's reverie, as she imagined the prince she once saved from that bad, stormy shipwreck, the "castaway of a lonely day", "so lost in your sea" (drowned unconsciously?)... Admiring his handsomeness "my song can but borrow your grace", "your beauty cascaded on me"... and finally saying a wish to unite with him "in this white night fantasy"... Ah, we always wanted to be dreamt by the one we love, don't we? "Ever Dream of Me, Dream of Me..." |
